I am Majid Beiki, research geophysicist based in Stavanger, Norway. I was born in 1977 in Iran. I have almost 12 years experience in magnetic, gravity and electromagnetic methods. My wife, Hediyeh Nazi, is also a geophysicist. We were colleagues in airborne geophysics group of Geological Survey of Iran (GSI) for five years when we fell in love. We both did our BSc in Mining engineering-Mineral exploration. I did my MSc in Mining Engineering-Exploration geophysics while Hediyeh managed to do her master in seismology. We have been involved in many projects in our career for processing and interpretation of airborne magnetic, gravity, gravity gradient tensor and electromagnetic data sets.
In 2006, I decided to move to Sweden to do my PhD in Geophysics at Uppsala University. A couple of years later we got married and started our little family. I finished my PhD on March 4, 2011. Until October 2012, I was involved with my Postdoctoral research at CSIRO Earth Science and Resource Engineering, Sydney, Australia. In November 2012, I moved to Stavanger and since then I have been holding a principal geophysicist position at Statoil. Currently, besides my tasks in Statoil, I am also serving journals of Acta Geophysica as Associate Editor of the applied geophysics section and GEOPHYSICS as Special Editor. I am also member of the Membership Committee of SEG.
